DJI Modify – 3D model editing

DJI Modify is DJI’s intelligent software for editing point clouds and 3D models from DJI Terra – with AI repair, smoothing, noise reduction and export for GIS and CAD.

  • For surveying, LiDAR, construction and inspection
  • With AI repair, classification and profile analysis
  • Seamlessly integrated with DJI Terra and common export formats
MISSION PROFILES

What workflows is DJI Modify designed for?

DJI Modify is suited to organisations that want to professionally post-process and clean point clouds and 3D models from the DJI Terra workflow and prepare them for GIS or CAD workflows. The software is particularly strong where large point clouds, automatic classification and precise profile analysis are required.

CONFIGURATIONS

Typical workflows with DJI Modify

The strength of DJI Modify lies in its direct connection with DJI Terra and its ability to post-process large, complex datasets efficiently and precisely. We configure Modify to suit your projects and your operational needs.

Modify + Terra + Zenmuse L3 for LiDAR post-processing
For complete LiDAR workflows from flight to the classified, cleaned point cloud end product – power lines, vegetation, buildings and terrain are automatically detected and separated.
Modify for power line analysis
For precise classification and profile analysis of overhead lines, pylons and line routes – with automatic cable detection and direct export to asset management systems.
Modify for large urban datasets
For post-processing city-scale point clouds with up to 4.2 billion points per file, automatic classification and real-time TIN terrain preview.
Modify for 3D mesh repair
For AI-assisted cleaning of 3D meshes from DJI Terra: automatic removal of floating objects, hole filling and vehicle removal.
PLATFORM BENEFITS

Why DJI Modify excels in professional LiDAR and 3D workflows

DJI Modify is the only post-processing software that is fully integrated into the DJI Terra workflow, combining AI-assisted automation with professional editing tools for large, complex geodata sets.

CLASSIFICATION
Automatic detection and separation of terrain, vegetation, buildings, power lines, pylons, vehicles and other object classes

TERRAIN
Real-time TIN terrain generation: changes to classification and smoothing are instantly visualised as a terrain model
INTEGRATION
Terra workflow with separate export formats for point clouds and 3D meshes – matched to the target GIS or CAD system
AI REPAIR
One-click automatic detection and correction of 3D mesh defects such as floating objects, holes and vehicles
FAQ

Frequently asked questions about DJI Modify

Here we answer the most important questions about licence models, compatibility, system requirements and introducing DJI Modify in your organisation.

Who is DJI Modify suitable for?
DJI Modify is suited to surveyors, GIS specialists, infrastructure planners and engineers who need to professionally post-process and classify LiDAR point clouds and 3D models from DJI Terra and prepare them for GIS or CAD workflows.
Which data formats does DJI Modify support?
Import and export must be considered separately: for 3D meshes, DJI Modify uses the project results generated with DJI Terra; general mesh import from any third-party software is not supported. For point clouds, DJI specifies the import of LAS files. Depending on the Terra/Modify version, suitable project files and the “Work with DJI Modify” option are required. Point clouds can be exported as LAS 1.2, LAS 1.4, PNTS, PLY, PCD and S3MB. 3D meshes are output as B3DM, OSGB, PLY, OBJ and S3MB. LAZ and FBX are not guaranteed as Modify export formats. We check the required format and compatibility with your target system before setup.
What are the system requirements for DJI Modify?
DJI Modify runs on Windows and requires an NVIDIA graphics card as well as sufficient RAM for the data volume (up to 50 % of available memory per LAS file). For very large datasets, Modify automatically splits the data into blocks and processes them sequentially.
Does trenderia also support demos, training and roll-out?
Yes. We support you from consulting and live demo through configuration to training, commissioning and support – for smooth operations in your organisation.
How do DJI Terra and DJI Modify complement each other?
DJI Terra handles reconstruction – converting drone data into point clouds and 3D models. DJI Modify handles post-processing: classification, cleaning, profile analysis and export. The two tools are directly aligned and together form an end-to-end workflow from raw data capture to the finished geodata product.
Are point cloud classifications preserved on export?
That depends on the format: according to DJI, PLY, PCD and S3MB do not support ASPRS classification information. With LAS 1.2, classes above 32 are reset to class 1. For handover to GIS or CAD systems, format, classification and coordinate system must be checked together.
