DJI 4G Dongle – Increased range and optimized connection between remote control and drone
Critical functions such as control, video transmission, and the exchange of telemetry data are additionally secured by the 4G connection. This creates complete third-party redundancy to the existing O3 network. Enterprise-Wireless connection. Especially in a country like Switzerland, which has excellent network coverage, this offers significant advantages for secure operation.
In environments with numerous obstacles or sources of interference, the 4G network automatically takes over data transmission if the radio link is interrupted, ensuring a stable connection. This redundancy guarantees that control and data transmission remain reliable even under demanding conditions. While the radio link continues to serve as the primary communication source, 4G remains ready to seamlessly take over at any time. This allows missions to be carried out even more safely, even in challenging scenarios.
4G dongle only in the controller
An additional advantage: The 4G dongle in the remote control can also be used independently, for example, to directly connect the remote control to the internet. This allows NTRIP data (Refnet/Swipos) and other important feeds to be accessed remotely without requiring an external mobile device for internet access. This significantly increases both operational reliability and user-friendliness.
Impact of additional weight on drone classification
For DJI EnterpriseFor drones, the weight of the 4G transmit and receive modules is already included in the maximum takeoff weight (MTOW). Therefore, the additional weight has no impact on the registration, and use in the open category remains possible without additional administrative effort. This applies to drones of the Mavic 3 Enterprise Series, Matrice 30 series and Matrice 350 series.
